NOW ACCEPTING CLIENTS · TELEHEALTH ACROSS PA & FLHelping children, teens, and young adults build confidence through courage
Most therapy jumps straight to coping skills. I start by helping children, teens, and young adults understand what their body is doing under stress, because skills only stick when the nervous system feels safe first.
Courage looks different at every age
Whether your child is struggling to put it into words, your teen has stopped trying to, or you're a young adult who's finally decided enough is enough, there's a place for you here.
AGES 6 — 12
Your child doesn't have words for what they're feeling, but their behavior is telling you something. Therapy gives them a safe place to make sense of big emotions, build real confidence, and learn that hard things don't have to stay hard forever.
AGES 13 — 17
The teen years can feel overwhelming. Whether they're navigating anxiety, self-confidence, friendships, identity development, or healing from trauma and other difficult experiences, therapy offers a space to be heard, understood, and supported through all of it.
YOUNG ADULT 18 +
Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of what's next? Therapy can help you navigate anxiety, trauma, life transitions, relationships, and the pressures of young adulthood with greater confidence.
I believe healing begins when people feel seen, understood, and safe enough to be themselves.
Hi, I’m Kayla!
For as long as I can remember, I've felt called to work with children, adolescents, and young adults. What draws me most to this work is helping young people find their voice, especially when they feel overwhelmed, misunderstood, or unsure of who they are.
I created Courage Over Comfort to be a place where healing feels possible, and where taking a brave step forward is always met with support.

You’ve probably tried to make sense of it…
The anxiety. The overwhelm. The withdrawal. The emotional outbursts. The feeling of being stuck, lost, or not quite like yourself anymore. Often, these aren't signs that something is wrong, they're signs that something deeper needs attention.
Real change happens when people feel safe enough to face what's hard and supported enough to try something different. By understanding what's happening beneath the surface, we can move beyond simply managing symptoms and begin building lasting confidence, resilience, and self-understanding.
Getting started is easier than you think and it begins with a single conversation.
Whether you're reaching out for your child, your teen, or yourself, the first step in the process is simply a conversation. Here's what happens next.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
In Pennsylvania, adolescents aged 14 and older have the same confidentiality rights as adults in mental health treatment. Their information will not be shared with parents, guardians, or family members without their consent. One limitation is when there is a safety concern/imminent risk or clinical necessity requires it.
-
Yes, Courage Over Comfort LLC requires both parents to consent to services prior to services beginning.
-
Yes. If there are any custody arrangements, shared custody agreements, or protection orders (such as PFA's), we require that you provide this documentation prior to the first session. This helps ensure that care is provided in accordance with legal guardianship rights and protects the safety and rights of the child or client. All documentation is reviewed and kept confidential as part of the clinical record.
-
Parents typically receive general updates on progress, goals, and treatment themes. Specific session content is shared thoughtfully to balance confidentiality with caregiver involvement in treatment.
-
Therapists are mandated reporters. If there are concerns about abuse, neglect, or safety risks, appropriate steps will be taken in accordance with state law, which may include contacting child protective services.
-
No, we are not trained in custody evaluations.
-
Courage Over Comfort is a clinical practice, not a forensic practice. Our primary focus is to protect the therapeutic relationship and support the child's emotional safety and healing. Becoming involved in court proceedings can compromise that role by shifting the focus from treatment to legal advocacy, which may impact the child's sense of trust, neutrality and confidentiality in the therapy space. For this reason, we do not provide custody recommendations or take sides in legal disputes.
